Choosing a venue that you love is so important! The colours, and the environment will set the tones for your wedding photos. Some venues have great areas where you can get ready, do your portraits and wedding party photos, ceremony and reception all in one place. While others you may need to consider what else is near by if you'll want to get ready at home, book an airbnb, or go to another location for photos. Considering spaces available for catering, accommodations for guests near by, and what else is included in your rental (tables, chairs, cutlery, bartenders etc.) are also important!

Here are some of our favourite BC wedding venues! In this blog venues are sorted first by region and then by type of environment (forest, city, mountain views, ocean views, farm etc.)

A wedding ceremony takes place under a wooden arch in a scenic mountain meadow with wildflowers and distant peaks.

Sea to Sky

The sea to sky region is known for gorgeous mountain views and lush west coast forest. The Sea to Sky region is consistently one of our favourites to shoot in because the natural beauty is incredible, and can be the focal point of both your ceremony and reception. This area really shows you that you don't need to do a hiking elopement to get big mountain views!

Vancouver + North Shore

City venues! The convenience of a city wedding is perfect especially if you are having a lot of guests travel from out of town for your wedding. Having lots of accomodation options, resturants and things to do near by your venue is exactly what your out of town guests want to see. These venues have indoor spaces for receptions, and many have the option for an outdoor spaces for part or all of your day. Getting married in the city doesn't have to mean all your photos have to be urban, there are many beautiful beaches, gardens and forests nearby for portraits.

Other Ideas for Venues in Vancouver, North and West Vancouver

Parks! As listed about some parks offer booking for wedding ceremonies. These may often work best for smaller groups for ceremony only. Be aware that you may have to share your space with the general public to some extent.

  • Pacific Spirit Park, Vancouver
  • Stanley Park, Vancouver
  • Whytecliff Park, West Vancouver

Breweries and Restaurants! Lots of Vancouver and North Shore Breweries and restaurants allow for event bookings. This could be a more affordable option for some if you want to have a party with a large group of people. We've seen lots of couples do a small ceremony for close friends and family, and then throw an evening party at a brewery to have a party! Opt for a later evening, and just serve apetizers and local beers. Some of these venues operate on a minimum spend with a usually lower event rental fee.

The Fraser Valley

The Fraser Valley is a big region and offers a wide variety of venues and styles. These venues include barns, golf clubs, and lodges; and have a mix of mountain views, lake views and open fields. Some of our favourite golden hour portraits have taken place in the Fraser Valley!
