The Defiant Workshop
It was so incredibly inspiring to be in a room with so many other creatives during the Defiant Workshop. We spent the whole day shooting and learning from each other and the amazing Victoria of The Wildhearts Collective. We had two incredible couples model for us, and they were so patient and loving of us learning and towards each other. I loved getting to learn a bit about each of their relationships and trying to represent these with my camera.
Victoria also had us push ourselves out of our comfort zones trying double exposures and focusing on creating art with our cameras in addition to focusing on the love and connection between couples.
The first styled shoot was was a casual couples session in Victoria's BEAUTIFUL studio in the Ellis Building on Main St in Vancouver. They cuddled on the carpet amongst the plants and then we headed outside for a walk around East Van to work on taking photos in bright light! Second shoot after lunch was a styled wedding, which was super fun for me since we've not gotten quite into wedding photography yet. The flowers by The Wildhearts Collective and veil by New Phrenology were stunning. So fun to try and capture all the details of the pieces and the work that goes into styling a wedding.
A highlight was definitely getting to meet so many other amazing Vancouver Photographers and start to feel like part of this community. Cannot wait to get to know these ladies more and eventually attend more workshops to keep pushing myself to experiment and stay inspired.
